​Brandeis University is a private research institution located in Waltham, Massachusetts, within the Greater Boston area. Established in 1948 by the American Jewish community, it was founded during a time when Jews and other minorities faced discrimination in higher education. The university was named after Louis Dembitz Brandeis, the first Jewish Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court.
